VIAVI Solutions, formerly JDS Uniphase (JDSU), provides network test, monitoring, and assurance solutions globally to communications service providers and enterprises, delivering end-to-end visibility across different networks. VIAVI also creates thin film optical coatings for use in anti-counterfeiting, consumer, industrial, government, healthcare, and other markets.

VIAVI Solutions has been through a long series of mergers, acquisitions, and rebrandings. The company was first founded under the name Wandel & Goltermann in 1923; it started by making and selling radios. Wandel & Goltermann became a subsidiary of Wavetek on September 30, 1998, and the company rebranded to Wavetek Wandel Goltermann. However, for financial reporting and accounting purposes, the transaction was treated as the purchase of Wavetek by Wandel & Goltermann. In May 2000, Wavetek Wandel Goltermann merged with TTC to form Acterna. In May 2005, JDSU acquired Acterna. On August 1, 2015, JDSU completed a spinoff of one of its business segments and named it Lumentum Holdings Inc. Following that, JDSU rebranded itself as VIAVI Solutions.

VIAVI Solutions provides products needed to perform a wide variety of network tests and other tasks. VIAVI sells tools for fiber optics, network tests and certifications, wireless and 5G performance tests, service assurance and analytics, lab and manufacturing network tests, enterprise network tests, avionics tests, and radio tests. VIAVI also sells emergency alert systems and custom optics and pigments.

VIAVI Solutions provides solutions to wireless and wireline service providers, network equipment manufacturers, enterprises and data centers, hyperscale and multi-tenant organizations, and government, aerospace, and defense industries. NITRO (Network Integrated Test, Real-time analytics and Optimization) is VIAVI's intelligence platform that takes real-time test and measurement data from network instruments and connects them to software-based planning, provisioning, assurance, and optimization applications. GEOson, powered by the technology behind VIAVI's acquired companies Arieso and Reverb Networks, is a machine learning location intelligence solution for optimizing 2G, 3G, and 4G network performance.
