Patent attributes
The present invention relates to radiation reactors for sanitizing fluids. In particular the present invention concerns a radiation reactor for a fluid, whereby the radiation reactor comprises a tubular casing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, and, the radiation reactor also comprises a radiating element, with the radiation element being arranged within the tubular casing. As a fluid is passed into the tubular casing through the fluid inlet, a first direction of rotation is imparted to the fluid. The fluid is discharged from the tubular casing through the fluid outlet, after the fluid has been irradiated by the radiating element. In order to improve the efficiency of the irradiation process while maintaining flow rate through the radiation reactor, the tubular casing also comprises at least one protrusion on the inner wall of the casing and the protrusion extends into a flow path of the fluid such that the protrusion interrupts the first direction of rotation imparted to the fluid by directing the fluid out of the first direction of rotation.
