An article reception device for vehicles with an article reception portion for being interposed in the gap between the vehicle seat and the central console and an article return container with an open inner volume contiguous with an open inner volume of the article reception portion. Articles dropped into the gap can be received by open inner volume of the article reception portion, and articles received by the article reception portion can be passed into the open inner volume of the article return container for retrieval. A seatbelt can pass through an aperture in the article reception portion. The article return container can project beyond the article reception portion longitudinally and laterally. The article return container can be selectively retained relative to either the first end or the second end of the article reception portion.
