An information processing apparatus retrieves first search results by searching a network for information using predetermined search criteria. The search criteria used in the search is registered. After the retrieval of the first search results, the information processing apparatus retrieves second search results by searching the network for information again using the registered search criteria. The information processing apparatus detects difference information from the retrieved information by comparing the first and second search results.
