A novel system for coloring the human eye is presented, including methods of coloring the conjunctiva on its internal or external surface, coloring the sclera, coloring the iris, suspending colorant in the subconjunctival space, and combinations of two or more of these methods. The system avoids tattooing, implanting, and corneal modification. Permanent results may be obtained. Colorants may be coverings, suspensions, or stains.
