An aromatic ring-containing polymer is provided having excellent flexibility and surface water-repellency. The polymer containing an aromatic ring has a fluoroalkyl group having two or more carbon atoms as a side chain, which is optionally interrupted by divalent group, wherein the fluoroalkyl group satisfies the following formula (a):A/(A+B)≧0.4 (a)wherein in the formula, A represents the number of fluorine atoms in the fluoroalkyl group and B represents the number of hydrogen atoms in the fluoroalkyl group.
