An example tourniquet includes a tensioning device having a housing and a pull-cord assembly and a strap that passes through the housing. An example strap has a first end and a second end. The example strap is arranged to together with the housing form a loop for encircling a limb. An example pull-cord assembly is configured to advance the strap through the housing to tighten the loop.
