A method for controlling a display apparatus, and a display apparatus are provided. In an embodiment, the display apparatus includes a flexible display screen and a bottom shell. In an embodiment, the bottom shell includes first and second shells, the second shell is at a side of the first shell away from the flexible display screen. In an embodiment, the method includes controlling the first shell and the flexible display screen to be synchronously deployed or retracted, and controlling at least a part of the second shell to move away from or toward the first shell at least along a first direction, such that a preset angle is formed between the first shell and at least a part of the second shell.
