The soluble mineral component comprises one or more minerals selected from the group consisting of zinc, manganese, tin, copper, and mixtures thereof. The edible compositions are advantageously companion animal chews, treats or supplements. Further disclosed are methods of making the chews, treats or supplements as are methods of treating conditions of the oral cavity.
