Disclosed are methods of a communication device and a network management entity for handling an emergency notification. The method of the communication device includes: generating an attach request to a network management entity requesting an attachment to a communication channel implementing Non-IP Data Delivery functionality; receiving a response to the attach request; in response to a detection that the response to the attach request indicates an acceptance of the attachment generating the emergency notification; and transmitting the generated emergency notification over the communication channel implementing Non-IP Data Delivery functionality.
