Abstract

The proposed program will span the design, production, purification, and testing of a novel protein based food ingredient with >80% Essential Amino Acid content. A generally recognized as safe (GRAS) production organism will be used to enhance the safety of production and accelerate the timeline to GRAS approval of the protein feed. The resulting material will be incorporated into combat rations to increase the warfighter effectiveness and decrease muscle loss due to lack of nutrition.
