Just like the Akkusative, the Dative does not only apply to nouns(https://www.wasdas.com/a1-german-course/dative-pronouns), but also to personal pronouns (I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they). Depending on which verb (i.e., helfen = Dativ) or preposition (i.e. für = Akkusativ) is used, or whether it`s a direct (Akkusative) or indirect object (Dative), you need to adjust the pronoun.
