The Department of Defense (DoD) seeks Software Defined Radio (SDR) Radiohead designs that are C4ISR/EW Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS) compliant. Communications architectures with SDRs are more flexible and adaptable, as SDR’s can be easily upgraded or reprogrammed to support evolving mission needs. A modular open systems approach (MOSA) such as CMOSS provides the government with hardware and software capabilities that can be quickly changed, upgraded and integrated without system redesign or reliance on any specific vendor. A CMOSS compliant SDR approach provides a rapid low-cost path for the DoD to equip forces with the best capabilities at the right time.
