Founded in Sweden, Skymining is a company that presents one of the world’s most natural and efficient ways to capture carbon from the air, with the aim to balance the biosphere of the planet. Responding to one of the biggest threats facing mankind, Skymining offers a sustainable, rewarding, and holistic solution that removes CO2, from the atmosphere and helps reduce the impact of climate change. Skymining removes atmospheric carbon and sequesters it using plantations of specialized C4 grass. New, arable land is created by recovering degraded land, which in turn relieves pressure on deforestation.

C4 grass

C4 grass is a perennial plant that captures carbon dioxide during photosynthesis. C4 grass is more adapted to warm or hot seasonal conditions in both humid and dry environments. It is one of the fastest-growing grasses and most efficient CO2 pumps in the world, as it grows up to 4 meters in 120 days and can be harvested 2-3 times per year.

Biodiversity through agroforestry

Skymining restores marginal land with carbon and nutrients. All land used to establish Skymines is degraded or otherwise marginal, meaning the company sidesteps the food versus fuel debate. In fact, Skymining restores marginal land over time by infusing the soil with carbon and nutrients, making it suitable for agriculture. Each Skymine is established within a suitable agroforestry model in order to regenerate the land and increase biodiversity.

Investment

Skymining's current operations have a direct impact on 12 of the United Nations SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Skymining aims to integrate all 17 of these into its business. Skymining offers one the opportunity to mine carbon from the sky by investing in one's own Skymine, a plot of agroforestry land. Once one invests in a Skymine and the grass begins to grow, one becomes a real Skyminer, contributing to the restoration of the biosphere, receiving a return on one's investment. A Skyminer or a Skymining partner becomes involved in a global movement and invests to become a CO2 negative. The investment both benefits the climate and generates returns.
