Single-cell protein

SCP refers to protein derived from single celled microorganisms like yeast, fungi, algae and bacteria grown on various carbon sources for synthesis. SCP production can use agricultural wastes. The dried cells of microorganisms or the whole organism is harvested for consumption. SCP is a protein source for human food supplements and animal feeds.
