Sam Riley (eng. Sam Riley; born January 8, 1980) is an English actor and singer, known for his role as Ian Curtis in the film Control, the vocalist of the post-punk musical group Joy Division in the 1970s. This role brought him the British Independent Film Awards in the category "Most Promising Debut", as well as many nominations for other prestigious film awards[3]

Biography
Riley was born in Leeds and attended Uppingham School in Rutland from 1993 to 1998. For several years he was the lead singer of the Leeds band 10,000 Things, with whom he had little success.
In September 2007, Riley auditioned for a role in Gerald McMurrow's Franklin. In the film "Thirteen", an auto-remake of the French thriller of the same name, he plays the main role - a character named Vince. He also starred in Brighton Rock with Helen Mirren and Andrea Riseborough.
In 2008, he took part in an advertising campaign for the English haute couture house Burberry, becoming the "face" of the famous brand.
Personal life
On the set of the film Control, he met Alexandra-Maria Lara. They got married in 2009 and had a son, Ben, in January 2014. Currently lives in Berlin.
