The US Air Force has 31 aeromedical evacuation squadrons with a unique and significant mission of providing time sensitive, mission critical en-route care for patients to and between medical treatment facilities. Current methods for aeromedical and critical care transport training are both logistically complex and cost-prohibitive due to the need to procure and set up mock equipment, including ventilators, intubation materials, and others. The innovative Virtual Reality Training System facilitates fully immersive, multiplayer virtual simulation training for aeromedical evacuations. This system provides the warfighter opportunities for effective training opportunities that simulate the psychosocial and environmental realism of an aeromedical evacuation, as well as the development of a training curriculum covering aircraft emergencies and the appropriate responses by the medical crew to preserve the mission.
