SBIR/STTR Award attributes
The Air Force is pursuing scalable power technologies for Small Satellites that can operate beyond GEO. In the proposed Phase II SBIR Roccor will leverage expertise in power systems architecture (from Roccor’s HiPASS solar array) and expertise in solar arrays for lunar environments (from Roccor’s ASPEN lunar surface solar array) to develop a SmallSat solar array that can enable space domain awareness (SDA) missions beyond GEO. The proposed Phase II SBIR will investigate the power generation requirements of a solar electric propulsion (SEP) SmallSat that traverses from GTO to a low lunar orbit. A solar array will then be developed, fabricated, and tested that meets these requirements.
