Robert Sobukwe was born on December 5, 1924, in Graaff-Reinet, South Africa. He pursued his education at the University of Fort Hare. Sobukwe became a politician and played a prominent role in the South African anti-apartheid movement .
Sobukwe is best known for founding the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC), an organization committed to fighting for the rights of the African majority in South Africa. He held South African citizenship.
On February 27, 1978, Robert Sobukwe passed away in Kimberley, Northern Cape.
