Riffyn is headquartered in Oakland, California and was founded in 2014 by Tim Gardner and Matthew Cockerill. Founder Tim Gardner was formerly Vice President of Research and Development at Amyris; a pioneer in industrial biotechnology. Riffyn develops cloud-based research and development software they call the Scientific Development Environment (SDE). The SDE is a computer aided design (CAD) platform allowing users to visually design processes and experiments, execute experiments, collect and analyze data in real-time using machine learning, and share results and protocols easily across teams. The SDE is compatible with several off-the-shelf data connectors and is compliant with regulatory standards such as 21 CFR 11 from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
