R-DEX Systems (R-DEX) proposes to team with the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) to develop an innovative, low probability of detection/identification (LPD/LPID), anti-jam, anti-spoof active protection radar system based on noise-like, quasi-orthogonal waveforms for enhanced detection, location, and classification of threats. The proposed radar will leverage novel digital-chaos-based, featureless communications waveform technology developed by GTRI. In Phase I, the R-DEX/GTRI team will demonstrate the scientific, technical, and commercial feasibility of the proposed technology and characterize its benefits over current radar technology for mobile ground vehicle active protection and situational awareness. At the end of Phase I, the team will have: 1) developed algorithms that optimize radar performance with concealed communications, 2) modeled these algorithms in simulation, 3) constructed a rapid prototype hardware-in-the-loop testbed using software-defined radios to demonstrate the basic concept, 4) devised scenarios and CONOPS for its application, 5) conducted threat analysis, and 6) generated plans for its implementation in a hardware prototype as well as relevant experiments for Phase II.
