A key need enunciated to QSI by various DoD and NASA technical personnel involved in the areas of Fault Management (FM) is the lack of a systematic, standardized process to evaluate a system, being designed or upgraded, for its intrinsic merits related to testability, serviceability and readiness. QSI proposes to leverage its COTS TEAMS software and its modeling and analysis abilities and adapt it specifically for AF and DoD to provide an initial system design assessment tool called SysEVAL. The tool will allow the user to rapidly generate a failure cause-effect dependency model of the system and its subsystems and analyze it for cross subsystem failure propagation and impacts, and generate testability and serviceability metrics. Program Managers can use this tool to assess initial system design and upgrades for their impact on system availability and readiness and thereby, the equipment life-cycle sustainment costs.
