Pyrolysis

The process of pyrolysis (or degassing) is the thermal decomposition of materials at elevated temperatures in an inert atmosphere. [1] This is due to a change in the chemical composition. The word is derived from the Greek elements pyro "fire", "heat", "fever" and lysis "separation".
