Owlin is company that develops algorithms which provide real-time analysis for portfolio managers, asset managers, and risk managers on events related to their business or portfolios. The company was founded by Bas van Ooyen, Richard Kraaijenhagen, and Sjoerd Leemhuis in 2012.
Owlin's artificial intelligence technologies are capable of monitoring and analyzing more than 2.8 million news sources from around the world, in multiple different languages, and in real-time. The coverage their software extends to includes sources such as traditional media, corporate sites, government publications, academia, blogs, specialist sites forums, and news organizations. Owlin uses this technology to create risk-models for departments that depend on data to make sustain their finances.
The company did lose two of their initial founders since 2012 after a seed-backer went bankrupt, forcing the company to fall into a bootstrap strategy before choosing their next investor.
Owlin is a company that participated in the Rockstart Accelerator 05/01/12 cohort and raised an estimated $250,000.
