Orbital Insight is a company developing geospatial analytics software. It was established in 2013 by James Crawford. Orbital Insight aims to provide institutions with more transparent and reliable data for their decision-making processes through the use of geospatial analytics. The company is based in Palo Alto, California.
Orbital Insight’s main product is Orbital Insight GO, a software which allows users to detect and measure geospatial spaces using current satellite images. Default modes allow users to track foot traffic in an area, classify land use, and detect numbers of objects. When additional features such as GO Create are installed, users can tailor their geospatial analytics experience through setting what to measure and how often. The company also offers industry-specific applications of their main product, such as GO Consumer and GO Energy, each used respectively by the oil and retail industry.
Orbital Insight has received $78.7 million in funding since 2013. In May 2017, the company held its most recent funding round, a Series C. amassing $50 million. Investors who have previously financed Orbital Insight were ITOCHU Corporation, Intellectual Partners, CME Ventures, and Lux Capital.
