Nebula Compute is a developer of a high-performance cloud computing platform intended for space and networking in orbit. The company's platform works to solve latency issues and bandwidth constraints involved in satellite-to-ground station communications. Founded in June 2019 by Michael Bloxton, Peter Stridh, and Ken Sunshine, the company is developing solutions for both government and commercial customers. Nebula Compute has worked to develop their technology with the U.S. Space Force and NASA.
In October 2021, Nebula Compute completed an orbital test of the company's platform, checking the hardware-software environment to ensure it performed as expected, including allowing users to uplink and run software and artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in similar ways to conventional, terrestrial cloud environments. This orbital test is part of Nebula Compute's preparation for a launch that will place the company's technology with the International Space Station in late 2022.
