National Health Research Institutes is a company that is dedicated to the enhancement of medical research and the improvement of health care in Taiwan. The company was founded in 1995 when president Teng-hui Lee signed legislature to establish the company.
The company has the missions to plan the direction of national science and technology development in medical care, coordinating research activities, educating and training young scientists and physicians, reviewing research projects, and facilitating the exchange of information to promote domestic and international cooperation.
COVID-19
With the outbreak of the coronavirus, National Health Research Institutes has began developing a vaccination for the virus. The company has taken the responsibility to test 96,000 pharmaceuticals and botanicals to identify substances capable of inhibiting the virus. The company expects a peptide vaccine to be ready and available within three months. They are also looking to develop recombinant sub-unit variants and two other DNA rearranged genomes, and eventually will start human trials after June, 2020.
