Ryan Finley founded SurveyMonkey in 1999, and the company is headquartered in San Mateo, California. Its investors include Tiger Global Management, Iconiq Capital, Google Capital, Social+Capital Partnership, Ryan and Chris Finley, and Laurel Crown Partners. SurveyMonkey has more than 1,200 employees and over 25 million active users globally.

On June 9, 2021, SurveyMonkey announced its company name would be changing to Momentive Global Inc. and would trade under the ticker symbol MNTV on June 15 of the same year. The company changed its name in a rebranding effort as the company expands its services beyond surveys.
