The overall objective of this program is to provide HHSTT with a sledborne event initator system that accurately and precisely monitors sled test track vehicle Knots Equivalent Air Speed (KEAS) and downtrack acceleration, and through integration with the existing test equipment used at HHSTT, only initiates an egress test event if the sled velocity and acceleration values are within predetermined prescribed limits. This Electronic Joint Egress ConTrol System (EJECTS) system will save time and money for both the end customer using HHSTT and HHSTT in conserving precious test articles for egress tests only when the track conditions are appropriate. Phase I will result in a complete EJECTS system design describing the detailed approach to solve these challenges and demonstrate the concept’s ability to meet the requirements. The outcome of Phase II is a prototype system, in which HHSTT can directly use on Holloman test sleds to monitor sled conditions to automatically make a determination during a test of whether to initiate an egress test event or not.
