Marcello Malpighi

Marcello Malpighi was born in Crevalcore on March 10, 1628 , and passed away in Rome on November 29, 1694 . Malpighi held Italian nationality and was educated at the University of Bologna . He pursued a career as a professor and anatomist .

Giovanni Alfonso Borelli served as the doctoral advisor to Malpighi, who later was the mentor to his own doctoral student, Antonio Maria Valsalva . Malpighi also had a pseudonym, Therone Philacio .
