At the deepest level of his consciousness, Strang travels across Africa and hunts the ugly Marabou stork, which ruthlessly exterminates flocks of flamingos. Sandy Jamison, a fictional character who, according to Roy himself, embodies his sense of guilt, leads the hunt with him.
