Ludwig Wittgenstein (26 April 1889 - 29 April 1951) was an Austrian-British philosopher, mathematician, professor, writer, and teacher. He was born in Vienna and held citizenship in both Austria and the United Kingdom. Wittgenstein is best known for his works Philosophical Investigations and Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus.

Wittgenstein was educated at various institutions, including Trinity College at the University of Cambridge, the Victoria University of Manchester, and the Technical University of Berlin. He later became a professor, teaching at the University of Cambridge. His father was Karl Wittgenstein.

During his academic career, Wittgenstein had two doctoral advisors, Bertrand Russell and Frank P. Ramsey. He also mentored several doctoral students, including Reuben Goodstein and Casimir Lewy. Wittgenstein passed away in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
