Chinese politician, general and diplomat
Li Hongzhang (Chinese: 儀叟, 少荃), born on February 15, 1823, in Hefei, was a politician, diplomat, and mandarin during the Qing dynasty. He was educated at the prestigious Hanlin Academy.
Li Hongzhang held numerous titles and positions during his career, such as diplomat, mandarin (bureaucrat), and politician. He was involved in several important military and political affairs, and he was the founder of the Huai Army.
Li Hongzhang passed away on November 7, 1901, in Beijing. Throughout his life, he was known by several other names, such as Shaotuan, Wenzhong, and Shengxin.
