A SBIR Phase II contract was awarded to Legionarius in August, 2019 for $750,000.0 USD from the U.S. Department of Defense and United States Air Force.
Overview Video: https://vimeo.com/345128710/77345534f8 Program objectives: Adapt, enhance and ruggedize Legionarius shot detection smart shirt hardware and software to TRL 7-8, integrate it into ATAK and BATDOK and test it under operational mission conditions. Description of efforts: The sequence of steps in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) generally requires manual action (self-care, buddy care, or medic support), quick and sound judgment (despite adverse conditions), and can only be initiated if the casualty is able to signal that he is wounded, and if the signal can be seen by a team-member. Woman-owned, Boston-based company Legionarius, LLC currently develops a highly innovative platform for field care of trauma casualties. It consists of a sensor-infused garment for detecting penetrating wounds (caused e.g. from bullets and fragments), and a modular, embedded software solution in ATAK and BATDOK to increase the situational awareness on the battlefield and provide the medic with a “head start. The Legionarius system automatically and instantly provides the following information to the relevant parties: How many casualties? Who specifically is injured? What type of wound? What are the current (and historic) vital signs? Where and When did the injury occur on the battlefield?
