Soviet writer, poet, playwright
Konstantin Simonov, born Kirill Mikhailovich Simonov on November 15, 1915, in Saint Petersburg, was a Soviet writer, journalist, poet, playwright, and screenwriter. He was also a politician, war correspondent, and translator. Simonov was known for various genres, such as narrative poetry, sketch stories, verses (poetry), novels, plays (theatre), and poems.
Simonov received his education at the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute and the Institute for Philosophy, Literature, and History in Moscow. Throughout his career, he received multiple awards, including the Lenin Prize, Stalin Prize, Hero of Socialist Labor, Order of Lenin, Order of the Red Banner, Medal "For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945", Order of the Patriotic War (1st class), and Medal "For the Defense of Moscow". Simonov was a citizen of the Soviet Union and passed away in Moscow on August 28, 1979.
