Jetpack Aviation is building a personal vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) solution. Their JetPack is turbine powered and received FAA approval for a public flight. In 2015, Founder and Test Pilot, David Mayman flew thier JB-9 jetpack around the statue of liberty. As of 2018, Mayman was flying an upgraded six-engine JB-11 for public appearances. These transportation vehicles reach 150 mph and 18,000-foot altitude.
Jetpack Aviation is targeting thier VTOL systems to multiple industries, including commercial, entertainment, and government agencies as well as private clients seeking custom and/or discrete services.Jetpack Aviation has identified market opportunities for military, first responders, commuters and recreational use.
Jetpack Aviation has conducted demonstration flights for the US military and a CRADA (Cooperative Research and Development Agreement) by USSOCOM (U.S. Special Operations Command) gives the company access to the US military's engineers, experts, and facilities to further R&D work. The CRADA agreement also creates future opportunities to sell their JetPacks directly to the US armed services.
Before selling the product, Jetpack Aviation is working on a fool-proof safety system. The public can learn to fly the JB-10 jetpack with FAA certified jetpack instructor and qualified pilot Boris Jarry, in the training facility for $4950. Mayman says that the movement is intuitive describing it like using a Segway in the sky.
