James May

James May was born in Bristol. Besides him , there were three other children in the family: older sister Jane, younger Sarah, and brother. As a child, his family often moved around the country. He first attended Caerleon Primary School near Newport in South Wales. He spent his teenage years in South Yorkshire, where he attended Oakwood Comprehensive School in Rotherham, coincidentally Jeremy Clarkson began his journalism career in the same city.

In addition, he studied at school with Dean Andrews, the star of the TV series "Life on Mars" and "Dust to Dust". As a child, he was a chorister at Whiston Parish School. A fine flautist and pianist, he later studied music at Lancaster University, where he was a fellow of Pendle College.
