Ivan Yurievich Cherezov (born November 18, 1980, Izhevsk) - Russian biathlete, three-time world champion and two-time Olympic medalist in the relay race (although he calls himself the Olympic champion), a multiple winner of stages of the World Cup. Merited Master of Sport of Russia. One of the leaders of the Russian men's biathlon team from the mid-2000s to early 2010s. In 2016 he finished his biathlon career. Before taking biathlon, Ivan was involved in applied fire sport. He started biathlon at the age of 9 (since 1989). His first coach was Novikov Vladimir Ignatyevich. I won my first victory in biathlon in 1995 in a sprint at the Junior Championship of Udmurtia.
He made his debut at the World Cup in Kontiolahti, Finland, on December 4, 2003, when he finished 22nd in sprint. Joined the main team at the beginning of the 2004/2005 season. Participant of five World Championships (2005, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011) and two Winter Olympic Games (2006, 2010).
At the Olympic Games in Turin in 2006 together with Sergey Chepikov, Pavel Rostovtsev and Nikolay Kruglov won silver medals in the relay. Three-time World Champion in relay (2005 - mixed relay; 2007 and 2008 - classical relay).
In the 2006/2007 season he had the absolute best result in terms of accuracy - 93.1% - and the best result in the World Cup overall standings at that time (fourth place, the best of the Russians).
Since the 2005/2006 season he has been a regular participant in World Cup relays. One of the members of the so-called "Golden four" (Cherezov, Kruglov, Yaroshenko, Chudov) who never finished lower than second place in eight starts (the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 seasons).
Cherezov has 7 individual World Cup victories as of March 26, 2010. After winning the pursuit in Kontiolahti on December 2, 2007, Cherezov took his first yellow jersey as World Cup overall leader, but relinquished it in the following race.
During the 2009 World Championships in Korea, he won the only individual World Championship medal - a mass start bronze medal, beating Ole Einar Bjorndalen of Norway, who was leading until the last shot.
In the 2009/2010 season he was third in the World Cup overall standings, with the best individual result and the best result among Russian athletes.
In the 2010/2011 season he took 5th place in the World Cup overall standings (the best result in the Russian national team).
At the Russian Summer Championships 2011 in Ufa broke his left leg, for which he missed the whole season 2011/2012. His first start after the injury was participation in the finals of the IBU Cup in Altenberg on March 10 and 11, 2012.

Also took part in the 7th stage of the World Cup in Holmenkollen: in sprint - 31st place (1+0) with +1.45 min gap; in pursuit - only 36th place (0-3-1-1). Thus scored his first 15 points in the World Cup for the first time since the 2010/2011 season. Ranked 84th in the overall World Cup total for the 2012/2013 season. The winter season ended well for the biathlete. At the Russian Championships in Uvat together with E. Garanichev. Maksimov and A. Makoveev took third place in the relay, and then came in first in the mass start at 15 kilometers, passing all four stages without penalty laps and beating other team veterans M. Tchoudov and M. Maximov. In the mega mass start for the Governor's Prize of the Tyumen region, where the whole Russian men's team took part, he was also the winner, with only one penalty lap. As a result, he became the owner of the Russian Cup in biathlon. In May, by the decision of the Russian national team coaching staff, was not included in the list for centralized training. Later he began to train in a group under the guidance of Valery Polkhovsky, an Advisor to the SBRF President, together with M. Tchoudov, M. Maksimov and S. Bocharnikov, and in September he trained with A. Shipulin. At the 2013 Russian Summer Biathlon Cup and Championships in Sochi, where the main team also took part, he showed the best speed. He was 6th in the sprint with three penalties, and a few days later he won the individual race.
