From 1932 he taught at GITISGITIS, from 1939 - professor, from 1946 - head of the acting department. During the war years, he acted as director of GITIS, evacuated to Saratov, then - artistic director of the front-line theater of GITIS, which reached Berlin in 1945. During his pedagogical work, he prepared national courses: Ossetian, Kabardian. Among his students: Yu. Puzyrev, N. Rushkovsky, M. Zakharov, S. Bragarnik, A. Abdulov, N. Merzlikin, A. Myagchenkov, V. Yurchenko, G. Tretyakov and others.

During the Civil WarCivil War, in 1918-1919 - artist of the House of Education, in 1919-1921 - artist of the 1st mobile theater of the Political Department of the 1st Army of the Eastern Front. In 1922-1925 he was a student of the school of the 2nd Studio of the Moscow Art Theater.
