Immune checkpoint inhibitor
A type of drug that blocks proteins made by some types of immune system cells and some cancer cells. These proteins can keep the immune responses in check an can prevent T cells from killing cancer cells. Blocking immune checkpoint inhibitors is like releasing the “brakes” on the immune system, allowing T cells to kill cancer cells better.
