Overview

Hyper is an early-stage venture firm providing distribution partnerships, community support, mentorship programs, and funding to startups, among other services. The company invests in a small number of startups four times per year. As part of Hyper's funding program, each funded company receives $300,000 under a SAFE (simple agreement for future equity) agreement along with access to certain features and services, such as Hyper's partner and mentor network as well as the opportunity to participate in an eight-week-long founder program that runs during fall, winter, spring, and summer.

Funding process

When an application is accepted, companies receive funding immediately and go on to participate in the founder program. Hyper invests in companies from all over the world, except for countries where legal complications prevent Hyper from investing. Regardless of their origin, however, all Hyper companies are asked to incorporate in Delaware. Hyper considers itself market-agnostic, meaning it will invest in any venture deemed to show potential in any industry, although the company evaluates its capacity to provide aid based on how its specific distribution and community features may benefit the supported company.

Partners and management

Hyper's partners include Andreessen Horowitz, AngelList, the Twenty Minute VC Podcast, Sequoia Capital, and Product Hunt, among others. The company's management consists of operators, investors, and partners with experience in the early stages of forming a startup as well as managing large enterprises.

Product Hunt

Hyper's founder, Josh Buckley, has said that Product Hunt is Hyper's "sister company" and central to Hyper's operations. Numerous companies were launched on Product Hunt, including Notion, Airtable, Zoom, and Slack. The founder anticipates that the cooperation of the two companies will become even more prominent over time as they evolve.
