Henry Rono (born February 12, 1952) is a retired Kenyan track and field athlete who specialized in various long-distance running events. He was born in Nandi County, Kenya, and holds Kenyan nationality. Rono is an alumnus of Washington State University.
During his athletic career, Rono received several accolades. In 1978, he was recognized as the United Press International Athlete of the Year and Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Year. He earned gold medals at the 1978 All-Africa Games, held in Algiers, in both the 10000 m and 3000 m steeplechase events. Additionally, Rono won two gold medals at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton for the 5000 m and 3000 m steeplechase events.
After retiring from professional competitions, Rono became a sports coach, and currently resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
