Abstract

The micro satellite industry is booming, along with the commercial space economy as a whole. As space burgeons as a destination for commercial development, the communication links between space and ground must improve in their bandwidth, security, and stability. HNu Photonics’ GHOST technology is poised to seize this enormous market opportunity by enhancing or converting space communications from traditional radio frequency (“RF) to optical communications. GHOST can transmit data in 1 hour that currently takes the International Space Station (“ISS) 6 days to transmit. With its increased bandwidth and data rates, GHOST will establish the framework for the next generation of satellite communications, powering internet and private international data transmission at light speed. The optical communication technology developed by HNu Photonics for commercial space applications is accelerating the commercial space economy at the orbital, launch vehicle, and ground station processing levels. HNu Photonics contends this technology can serve the complex needs of the Air Force as well, providing reliable, high-speed, and highly-secure communication links for a wide variety of mission applications. Our proposed feasibility study will identify the highest impact Air Force applications to benefit from exponentially increased bandwidth and data rates.
