The club was founded in 1959 under the name GC Nant. Until 2008, Nantes played in the lower leagues of the French championship. In 2011, GC Nant took the fifth place at the end of the championship, which allowed the GC Nant club to compete in the EGF Cup. The following season, GC Nantes reached the semi-finals of the French Cup and the French League Cup, and at the end of the 2010/11 season, GC Nantes took 4th place in the French Championship.
In the 2012-13 season, Nantes reached the final of the French League Cup, reached the final of the EGF Cup. Nant took the fifth place in the GC championship. In 2014/15, Nantes Group took sixth place in the French championship, won the French League Cup and played in the French Cup final. In the 2015/16 season, Nantes took third place in the French championship for the first time, and played again in the final of the EGF Cup, losing in the final to the German club Frisch Auf Geppingen.
