Grigory Viktorovich Lepsveridze, better known as Grigory Leps, is a Soviet and Russian singer, musician, composer and producer, a member of the International Union of Pop Artists. Honored Artist of the Republic of Ingushetia (2004), Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (2011), People's Artist of Karachay-Cherkessia (2015). Winner of the World Music Awards, Song of the Year, Golden Gramophone,etc.
Born on July 16, 1962 in the city of Sochi. Father, Viktor Antonovich, worked at the Sochi meat processing plant, mother, Natella Semyonovna, worked at a bakery. Sister - Eteri Alavidze.
He studied at Sochi Secondary School No. 7. By his own admission, he did not differ in his studies with particular success: his teachers even called him a “cursed loser”. Since childhood, he was seriously involved in football and
music, played in the school ensemble.
At the age of 14, he entered a music school, graduating from it in the class of percussion instruments. After serving in the army in Khabarovsk, he worked at a sensitive facility-factory that produced military vehicles. He worked on a dance floor, in Sochi's Riviera Park, sang in restaurants in Sochi, played in rock bands. In the late 80s he was a soloist of the Index-398 group.
In the early 1990s, Grigory Leps performed romances at the 1.3.7 restaurant in the Zhemchuzhina Hotel in Sochi. Leps spent all his fees on casinos, slot machines, booze and women. And he earned a lot in those days. As he recalls: “It used to be up to 150 rubles a day. There were also much more some unreal fabulous grandmas.
Early career (1992-1999)
Moved to Moscow at the age of 30.
In 1997, the second album "Whole Life" was released, recorded a year earlier at the Nota studio (it included the songs "Whole Life", "Kachok", "Chizhik", "Ice"). Leps first took part in the festival "Songs of the Year-97" with the song "My Thoughts".
In 1998, Grigory received an invitation from Alla Pugacheva to sing at the Olimpiysky in Christmas Meetings with the song I'll See You Anyway. Later, Alexander Kalyanov organized a concert of Vysotsky's songs performed by contemporary authors. Leps participated in this celebration with the song "Sail".
The path to the big stage (2000-2006)
On June 1, 2000, the third album "Thank you, people ..." was released. In the same year, a new version of David Tukhmanov's song "Clean Ponds" performed by Leps appeared. The singer has his own website on the Internet. In the same year, he met his future wife Anna, and also underwent vocal cord surgery due to loss of voice.
2006-2009 - A new stage of creativity. A smooth transition from the chanson genre.
Creation
Leps is known for a special, "growling" timbre of voice. He defines his style as "pop song with elements of rock." According to him, he also had purely chanson songs, but today he is “not interested”.
