Gothams is a defense and aerospace start-up advisory service provider and accelerator. The company was founded in March 2019 by Matt Michelsen and is headquartered in Austin, Texas. Gothams has invested in five funding rounds since its inception, leading two for Goldilock and Precious Payload. The company has also assisted in funding for TechnoCarbon and 1702ai.
Gothams provides advisory and hands-on support, helping clients with SBIR/Other Transaction Authority (OTA) Proposal development expertise, emergency management, operation support, federal network and relationship management, contract administration, GOVCloud and FedRamp, and Limited Objective Experiments (LOE) coordination with Department of Defense units.
Gothams' advisory clients include Curative, Primer, Asapp, and OPUS 12.
Gothams Hub71 Accelerator program helps next-gen aerospace and defense startups develop, build, and grow. During the 12-week program at Hub71, a global tech ecosystem located in Abu Dhabi, Gothams provides knowledge and leadership for startups to grow revenue, automate information analysis, improve customer service experience, and increase agent productivity.
The accelerator course also covers government contract cycles, helping guide clients from start to finish with proposal preparation, contract administration, and access to the correct government connections. Gothams increases government demand for client-specific technology by building persuasive pitches in line with compliance requirements. The accelerator has helped award multi-million dollar contracts to clients through the accelerator. Companies accelerated by the Gothams accelerator include EarthX, Natilus, Precious Payload, and RedCrow.
The accelerator offers a variety of services:
- Investment: $120k for 6%
- Partner Support: Regular 1:1 meetings and office hours
- Programming: including speakers, mentors and demo day
- Office Space: WeWork / Hub71, co-working desk space with access to printers, conference rooms, event space
- Housing: Abu Dhabi Resort Hotel with residence for up to 2 people
- Legal Support: Basic setup & incorporation
- Access to all WeWork / Hub71 resources, including Slack Community, deals, discounts and events)
- Connections: A network of founders and access to Silicon Valley network
Gothams will be hosting an accelerator in November 2021, named the VISTA pitch competition, in partnership with the 2021 Dubai Airshow. The contest is aimed at disruptive startups that are trying to impact the future of the aerospace industry and is accepting submissions until June 10.
