Portuguese sustainable crowdfunding platform Goparity has secured €2.9 million in a funding round to expand its global reach and support environmentally and socially impactful projects. Founded in 2017, the Lisbon-based company operates a crowdlending model that connects investors with initiatives focused on renewable energy, circular economy, and social inclusion. To date, the platform has facilitated over €45 million in loans across nearly 20 countries in Europe, South America, and Africa, while generating €1 million in revenue for the first time in 2024.
The investment was led by 3XP Global’s Impact Innovation Fund, with participation from institutional investors Mustard Seed Maze, Schneider Electric, Energy Access, Regenerative.eco, and InvestEco Capital Corp. Together, these entities contributed over €2.4 million. An additional €470,000 came from more than 800 individual investors through an equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube, marking the second time Goparity has opened a funding round to the public under equivalent terms as institutional backers.
Goparity’s operational impact metrics, as stated in the announcement, include preventing 30,000 tonnes of annual CO₂ emissions, creating 4,700 jobs, and directly benefiting 86,000 people through funded projects. Notable initiatives include renewable energy installations in Brazil, sustainable agriculture programs in Colombia, and clean water access projects in Portugal. The company reports its project portfolio spans three continents, with recent expansions in Ecuador and Brazil.
CEO Nuno Brito Jorge emphasized the significance of closing this round amid a challenging macroeconomic environment, particularly citing the withdrawal of major North American banks from the UN’s Net Zero Banking Alliance between December 2024 and January 2025. He stated the funding validates Goparity’s model of “making money go where it can make a difference,” while projecting the platform will surpass €50 million in total investments by mid-2025.
Rita Branco, Impact Partner at lead investor 3XP Global, highlighted the platform’s role in democratizing sustainable finance, calling it “accessible, inclusive and scalable.” The capital injection will primarily fund geographic expansion, with specific focus on growing Goparity’s investor base in Europe and Canada while strengthening operations in existing South American markets. Additional targets include new territories in the Southern Hemisphere, though specific countries were not disclosed.
The platform’s business model allows individuals to invest as little as €5 in vetted projects, which typically offer annual returns between 3% and 7%. Recent regulatory filings show average project sizes range from €100,000 for community solar installations to €2 million for large-scale renewable energy infrastructure. Goparity maintains a 5% commission fee on all funded projects, contributing to its revenue growth from €620,000 in 2023 to €1 million last year.
This funding round follows Goparity’s €1.8 million seed extension in 2023 and positions the company among Europe’s largest sustainability-focused crowdfunding platforms by both capital deployed and geographic reach. Current operational data indicates 68% of funded projects relate to renewable energy, 22% to circular economy solutions, and 10% to social impact initiatives.
