The need for lightweight vehicles that are able to be quickly and efficiently deployed has been identified in recent years as potential theatres emerge with the evolution of crisis and conflict in the world. . In order to be effective and useful, the gap-crossing/ bridging system for Ultra Lightweight Combat Vehicles must be matched to the vehicle not only in capacity, but also in transportability, mobility, speed of deployment/retrieval, and ease of use. The ability to maintain pace of march with the units deployed in a wartime environment in critical. GS Engineering is pleased to present two concepts, each capable of exceeding the requirements of deploying a bridge by less than three soldiers within 5 minutes during daytime operations and within 10 minutes for nighttime operations. During Phase I, both concepts were proven feasible through structural analysis and careful design in accordance with applicable standards. During Phase II, GS Engineering will mature both concepts through final design and testing. The resulting production ready systems will greatly expand the Army's gap crossing capability for Ultra-lightweight combat vehicles.
