Fred Hollows

Fred Hollows was a surgeon born on April 9, 1929, in Dunedin, New Zealand . He held citizenship in both New Zealand and Australia . Hollows was educated at Victoria University of Wellington .

Throughout his career, Hollows focused on eye health, and in 1992, he founded The Fred Hollows Foundation . The organization works to improve eye care and preventable blindness across the world. He continued to advocate for the cause until his death in Sydney, Australia, on February 10, 1993 .
