Francis William Aston

Francis William Aston was a physicist and chemist from the United Kingdom. He was born on September 1, 1877, in Harborne and died on November 20, 1945, in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.

Aston was educated at the University of Birmingham, Trinity College Cambridge, the University of London, and Malvern College. He was a student of J. J. Thomson, a renowned physicist.

Aston's notable work includes the development of mass spectrometry and the invention of the mass spectrograph. These achievements led to his receipt of the 1922 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and the Royal Medal.
